What is a permanent "Lifetime E-mail Address" (LEA)?

A permanent Lifetime E-mail Address (LEA) is a virtual E-mail address that stays with you and never needs to change. It works with any Internet Service Provider. Give out only your LEA to everyone. The LEA is an automatic re-directing E-mail address. Whenever someone sends an E-mail to you at your LEA, it is automatically re-directed to the E-mail address that you have currently on file. You can change this E-mail address at any time. For example, when you have to change Internet Service Providers, you merely change the re-directed address. Your LEA stays the same and no one sees any difference in the way they contact you. No more sending out mass mailings to let everyone know your new address.

What is an "Internet E-mail Address"?

An internet E-mail address is composed of three parts:
username@domain_name.tld for example, fred123@aol.com
The domain_name is the critical part here, because you have to choose a domain_name that is not already in use. Once you choose a domain_name, then you can choose any username you want. The tld is also important. The most common tld is ".com", although .net and .org are also available. We do not generally recommend the use of these other two unless your personal situation makes these extensions useful. See the next question and answer for more information on username use.

How many usernames or E-mail addresses do I get?

With the standard LEA, you get ONE complete E-mail address (see above), composed as follows:
    username@domain_name.tld
Once you choose an available domain_name and tld, then you can select any username you want in order to create your full E-mail address. If you choose to add the "unlimited usernames" option, then you can add and use as many different usernames at your domain_name.tld as you wish. You do not even have to notify us of these usernames since we set up your account to automatically re-direct any and all of them to the E-mail address that you selected in the beginning. And of course, you can always change this E-mail re-directing address.
Here are some examples you might use with the unlimited usernames option:
    yourname@yourfamilyname.com
    spousename@yourfamilyname.com
    oldestchildname@yourfamilyname.com
    nextchildname@yourfamilyname.com
The domain_name and especially the usernames are limited essentially by your imagination.

Can I get multiple E-mail names (domain names) and have them all re-direct to the same address?

Yes! Each LEA is independent of any other LEA and multiple LEA's can re-direct to the same E-mail address. See also What is an internet E-mail address? and What is an LEA? and How many usrnames and E-mail addresses do I get? for more information on E-mail addresses.

Do I really need a Lifetime E-mail Address (LEA) now?

Most everyone sees the benefit of having a Lifetime E-mail Address, but not everyone thinks they should do it now. As with most things on the internet, waiting will not be to your advantage for the following reasons:

Supply of names is limited. The most important reason is that the supply of names is limited. Many family names are already taken. The longer you wait, the harder it is to find a good E-mail name (domain name - see "What is an internet E-mail address?").
More people to notify all the time. As time goes by, your current E-mail address gets used by more and more people. This just makes it harder to switch them later. And as you use the internet more, and register your E-mail address with more companies and lists, this just makes the problem worse.
When you consider how many lists you are on, and how difficult and time-consuming it is to change your address for each of these lists, you will realize that it is to your advantage to start using your permanent E-mail address now.
Never change addresses again! Once you start using your LEA, you will never have to change your E-mail address again!
Less junk mail. Since your E-mail address is "owned" by you, and not by AOL, or HOTMAIL, or any other Internet Service Provider, you will find that very little junk mail comes to that address. And if you are careful when you give out your LEA to companies and request that they not sell or give your E-mail address to anyone else, you can keep the amount of junk mail you receive to a tolerable level.
Don't be trapped by your ISP. Be free to change to another Internet Service Provider (ISP) without fear of losing any E-mail. Your LEA will follow you to your new ISP without any interruption.
Don't be forced to change E-mail addresses. Don't be forced by your ISP to change your E-mail address. When Quest took over USWest, every USWest customer was forced to change their E-mail address. Don't let this happen to you. Be in control of your own E-mail address with a Lifetime E-mail Address.

How do I select my LEA name?

The first step is to find an available domain name and then sign-up for (also called registering ) your domain name (see "What is an internet E-mail address?"). Once you have successfully registered your domain name, we will be in contact with you to establish your username for the standard lifetime email address, or setup your unlimited username option. If you are just curious about what domain names are available, you can search for an available name and then click on cancel or exit when you are done browsing domain names.

What is the difference between .com, .net, .org, .biz and .info?

There is technically no difference between these various tld's and how they work, although there can be a difference in pricing for the newer tld's. There were originally 4 tld's (.com, .net, .org, and .gov). Growth of the internet forced the addition of more tld's. We can register you with .com, .net, .org, .biz or .info addresses. How do I get started?

How soon can I start using my LEA?

Your LEA will be registered and working with the internet usually within 24 hours of receipt of your order. However, since the servers that track names and addresses within the internet are dispersed throughout the world, it sometimes takes a few days before everyone in the world can reach you through your new Lifetime E-mail Address. Once your LEA is registered everywhere in the world however, your email will arrive in normal internet speed.

Do I have to change Internet Service Providers (ISPs)?

No! One of the major purposes of your virtual Lifetime E-mail Address is to protect YOU! You can stay with your ISP or change ISPs as often as you want - the decision is totally yours - and your email will follow you whenever you make a change (or a change is forced on you).

Does it really work with every E-mail system?

Yes!
